Rahi Hasan is an educator, organizer and multimedia artist, experimenting with ways to shift the power held by filmmakers over to the communities being recorded. They are most passionate about working with youth-engaged, collaborative documentary projects, such as Lakewood Standing Strong, which depicts an anti-bullying club founded by high school students in Roseboro, NC.

Their short documentary about Young Scholars Summer Research Institute highlights the voices of Durham Public High School students as they learned to conduct their own research for social change. Rahi has provided videography support to numerous social justice organizations, including Durham Solidarity Center and Jewish Voice for Peace-Triangle NC, and is co-creator of Art Asylum (a project by DAM) a collective dedicated to “reducing isolation among folks who struggle with mental health.” As an Executive Video Producer for the NC State Parks for last three years, they have created hundreds of short videos, including one scheduled to air on UNC-TV. Rahi is a Lewis Hine Documentary Fellow and a BRIC Media Share grantee.
