Wael Gzoly

Wael Gzoly is an Emmy nominated cinematographer and filmmaker. Though born in Cairo, he's deeply connected to his ancestral home in Nubia. Gzoly has worked extensively across the African continent for independent filmmakers and outlets including VICE, HBO, and BBC. He's the Director of Photography on TICKLING GIANTS (Tribeca 2016), chronicling the rise of Bassem Youssef, Egypt's foremost on-screen satirist, during the Arab Spring and HOW SABA KEPT SINGING (2023), following a musician who survived the horrors of Auschwitz by singing for Nazi guards.
