Marissa Aroy

Marissa Aroy is an Emmy Award-winning filmmaker originally from the United States who has made Ireland her home for the past seven years. She has been commissioned by the Smithsonian National Museum of American History to create short films for “How Can You Forget Me: Filipino American Stories," and her internationally recognised documentaries include the Emmy-winning Sikhs in America and the Emmy-nominated The Delano Manongs: Forgotten Heroes of the United Farm Workers. Marissa has taught at Trinity College Dublin and now lectures at Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design + Technology. As a narrative director, she recently completed the short film The Parting which will have its world premiere at the Dublin International Film Festival. She was also funded by DLR First Frames for another short fictional film. Aroy is based in Wicklow with her husband and creative partner Niall McKay, and she continues to develop independent documentary and narrative projects across Ireland and internationally.
