Cutting Through Rocks, co-directed by Sara Khaki and Mohammadreyza Eyni and supported by the Documentary Lab, is nominated for an Academy Award® for Best Documentary Feature.

Cutting Through Rocks follows Sara Shahverdi, the first elected councilwoman of her remote Iranian village, as she fearlessly breaks patriarchal traditions by training teenage girls to ride motorcycles. When accusations arise questioning Sara’s intentions to empower the girls, her identity is put in turmoil.
