In what has become an annual tradition at Firelight Media, we’re thrilled to present the list of the year’s broadcast and streaming premieres from members of the Firelight Media community.

2025 presented an unprecedented set of challenges to our community. With the dissolution of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, existential threats to public media, and attacks on our frontline communities, it was at times hard to find things to celebrate. Still, we persevered together, as we always do.

2025 also marked Firelight Media’s 25th anniversary year, which we celebrated at our “Joyful Diversion” event at Lincoln Center in November, surrounded by our beloved community. That evening, we were joined by many members of our Firelight Media-supported filmmaker community, several of whom released new documentary features and short films this year through broadcast and streaming platforms.

In total, eight films supported by our Documentary Lab had broadcast and streaming premieres this year, as well as 16 documentary short films co-produced by Firelight Media for PBS, and several documentary features and docuseries by alumni of our programs. Here is a look at those titles — many of which are available to stream now, so be sure to check them out if you haven’t already!
