Firelight Media announced today that its Beyond Resilience series has been named a Finalist in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion — Community Outreach in The 3rd Annual Anthem Awards.

Beyond Resilience, launched in 2020, is a series of screenings, essays, and curated conversations that explore the challenges, strategies, and experiences of creating and distributing work during periods of social transformation. The series grew from virtual panel discussions launched during the pandemic into one of the documentary industry’s most important forums for discussing pressing issues that affect BIPOC filmmakers and their allies. Events in the series have taken place at prestigious film festivals and conferences, including the Sundance Film Festival, BlackStar Film Festival, the International Documentary Association’s Getting Real conference, and South by Southwest. The series has featured documentary industry luminaries, including Firelight Media’s own Stanley Nelson and Marcia Smith, and filmmakers Dawn Porter, Roger Ross Williams, Sam Pollard, Yoruba Richen, Grace Lee, and Elegance Bratton, among many others.
Winners for the 3rd Annual Anthem Awards will be announced on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. Finalists can be celebrated online from December 5 to December 21 at Celebrate.Anthemawards.com.
The Anthem Awards was launched in response to the prevalence social good has taken within the national conversation and cultural zeitgeist in recent years. The 3rd Annual competition received over 2,000 entries from more than 30 countries worldwide. By amplifying the voices that spark global change, the Anthem Awards are defining a new benchmark for impactful work that inspires others to take action in their communities. A portion of program revenue is allocated to our grant program, The Anthem Fund.
