Off and Running is a feature documentary that follows the complicated life of a Brooklyn teen, Avery, who was raised in a loving multiracial family by white Jewish lesbian adoptive parents. Off and Running explores Avery’s search to find her biological family and to reconcile her diverse cultural experiences with her African-American identity. 

This film received funding from ITVS, NBPC, and The Foundation for Jewish Culture, and was a selected project of Tribeca All Access 2008. The film launched its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival 2009 and was an Official Selection of the 2009 Silverdocs Documentary Festival. Off and Running aired on the award-winning PBS series POV in 2010.
