In 2017, Firelight launched a Groundwork, a regional day lab initiative to support diverse, early career, documentary filmmakers living and working in under-represented regions of the U.S.

The day labs are co-produced with local partners and feature master classes, workshops, and panels designed to connect early career filmmakers with industry leaders and position them for national opportunities.
