RELEASED SEPTEMBER 11th 2012 I 73 MIN

Miguel Martinez moved to the U.S. from San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato at the age of ten.  After graduating from high school in Charlottesville he began his career by hosting and producing the first Spanish/English bilingual radio show in Central Virginia. In 2008, Miguel began production of his first feature film, "Farewell Ferris Wheel" with fellow Charlottesville resident Jamie Sisley.  "Farewell Ferris Wheel" explores how the U.S. Carnival industry fights to keep itself alive by bringing in Mexican workers with a controversial work visa. Two years later, the film won the TAA Creative Promise Award from the Tribeca Film Institute and was selected for the Film Independent Documentary Lab and Firelight Media Producers’ Lab in 2014.  "Farewell Ferris Wheel" has also received funding from ITVS, Latino Public Broadcasting and the Tribeca Film Institute. Miguel is currently collaborating with the Grammy Award winning group Ozomatli on a series of music videos, as well as continuing to pursue his passion for photography.MIGUEL MARTINEZ
