Firelight’s Impact Producer Fellowship, which launched in February 2017, is the first-ever training program dedicated to mentoring and training impact producers of color. This yearlong fellowship is rooted in a core belief that by providing social change activists with training on media strategy and impact, and connecting them with diverse storytellers, we can fuel change efforts and catalyze new narratives about diverse communities.

We are looking for applicants with a passion for documentary film, strategic storytelling and movement building within communities of color. Ideal candidates are impact producers, communications strategists, documentary producers, or organizers wishing to develop sophisticated strategies to leverage nonfiction storytelling, learn more about the documentary film industry and join a growing network of impact producers.

Applicants do not need to be working on a current film campaign, but prior impact campaign experience is helpful. Ideal applicants will bring experience documenting or organizing around the most pressing issues of our time - criminal justice reform, environmental justice, LGBTQ rights, gender equity, reproductive justice and/or immigrant rights.

Download more information about the program.

  • The applicant cannot be a full-time student.
