ASSIA BOUNDAOUI | THE FEELING OF BEING WATCHED

In the Arab-American neighborhood outside of Chicago, where co-director Assia Boundaoui grew up, most people think the whole place is under surveillance, and has been for a decade. While filming one community’s story of life under surveillance, the filmmakers uncover 1,000s of pages of declassified FBI documents confirming that Assia’s hometown was in fact the subject of one the largest counter-terrorism investigations ever conducted in the U.S. before 9-11… it was code-named “Operation Vulgar Betrayal”. THE FEELING OF BEING WATCHED is a feature-length documentary film that chronicles a personal “POV”investigation into how one American neighborhood came to be cast under blanket surveillance and asks, was it justified?
